It added an extra layer to the tension between Le Chifre and Bond. It was 1) a great fight scene, and 2) a way to show the complexity of the plan by forcing Bond to fight his enemy's enemies in order to keep both of them in the game. A good example is the African warlord fight scene in the stairwell. It's tough to be intimidated by a secret organization that makes such rookie mistakes.Īll of the fight scenes in Casino Royale felt like they had a purpose.
Presumably a professional screenwriter or script doctor would have caught lapses of logic like this (these guys are supposed to be international criminal masterminds, right?) and either changed their actions or removed them altogether.
I think these issues can probably be blamed on the point Wingchunbum made above regarding the writers' strike.
